GIMP 2.10 Tutorial: Enhance Daylight Photographs with Shadow Recovery

In this GIMP photo editing tutorial, I’ll show you how to enhance photos taken outside in bright daylight using a technique called “shadow recovery” or “tone mapping.” This technique allows you to brighten shadows and midtones in a bright image without blowing out the highlights in the image.

I’ll also show you how to use the new GEGL based Curves tool and Levels tool. I use GIMP 2.10 Release Candidate 1 (GIMP 2.10.0-RC1) for this tutorial, and you can follow along with GIMP 2.9.8 or GIMP 2.10. You can also download this new version via the link below.
