DMD Educates Viewers Around the World on FREE CREATIVE SOFTWARE

We're here to provide free or affordable online education for open source programs. Plus, we support the people that make free and open source software possible.

Our Mission

Davies Media Design provides GIMP, Inkscape, and Darktable tutorials, courses, and how-to articles to the general public, either for free or at minimal cost to our students and subscribers. Our mission it to provide superior, original and affordable educational content for Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for students around the world, empowering people of all nationalities, income levels, and educational backgrounds with skills they can use for personal or professional projects.

Davies Media Design supports the people that make Free and Open Source Software possible. This mainly includes developers who put in tons of time and effort, usually for little to no pay, to build and maintain the various programs used in our educational content. We currently support the following contributors, and recommend you do the same:

ZeMarmot Team, GIMP

Martin Owens, Inkscape

Oyvind Kolas, GEGL

Owner & Founder | Davies Media Design

Davies Media Design was officially established on YouTube in May 2011 – with our first ever GIMP tutorial released in November of that same year. The channel was created by Michael Davies as a result of frustrations with the unclear and hard-to-follow GIMP tutorials that were on YouTube at the time. Today, our YouTube channel is watched all over the world as one of the largest GIMP dedicated channels, with millions of views and over 100,000 subscribers! We have more than 300 tutorials dedicated to GIMP, plus additional tutorials on other free creative software (including Inkscape and Darktable), and several online courses with thousands of students.
Davies Media Design officially became a Limited Liability Company in 2015.
Thanks to all of our viewers that have supported our channel over the years and helped it become what it is today!
